Kindergarten Curriculum

Kindergarten is the first step of the educational journey at American Academy. Our exceptional developmental curriculum in kindergarten provides for all areas of a young child’s growth: physical, emotional, social, and cognitive. During the Kindergarten years, children master the alphabet beginning with a reading program using phonetically predictable text, and integrate communicative English in many classes. Our Kindergarten immerses students in a second language through the use of American curriculum texts. This immersion is healthy for the students’ learning experience and produces results in our Kindergarten. Math is taught by using an exploration and application of numbers for early understanding of the number system. In our non core curriculum – children take in physical education, art, and music where English is the primary language used for developing comprehensive skills early.

While traditional learning is an important goal for kindergarten, it is likewise vital for children to develop a sense of curiosity about how things work. Our curriculum is filled with science demonstrations, songs, art, field trips and meaningful games that teach how to observe, listen, and respond creatively in the classroom. The Journey’s Kindergarten Program prepares and develops each student’s individual talents to be ready for grade school.

Yoga in KG

Taking a nap is an old fashion way for kids to increase alertness if they are feeling foggy. Instead, we keep our students refreshed and ready to learn by teaching daily restorative yoga.

After School Kids (ASK)

ASK encourages socialization, leadership, and good sportsmanship for students and peers. American Academy allows a no-charge before school program in Kindergarten, allowing students on campus at 7:00AM, supervised by the staff at no charge. The After-school Program is at a nominal charge allowing our kids to stay after from 3:00PM to 6:00PM. The ASK program increases students’ comfortability around the school and allows them to openly love the school as a care place and learning environment.
